That's a nice boat! Needs work, but it looks like a good boat to invest your time in.

thank you for the response.

has anyone ever seen stringers like this.
the only part touching both sides is the bottom flat area.
nothing on the tops of the stringers going to the hull edges.

I would be really tempted to cut out the flat area and remove the saturated foam. All that wet foam will do is add weight and keep moisture present to potentialy cause problems down the road. You have gone this far, might as well tear it all out and start fresh. It will be a sweet boat once finished.

new (dry) foam. you buy it in two parts, mix it and pour it in and it expands to fill the void.

if you search "foam" or "floatation foam" here you will find a number of posts about it ;)

When I foamed my floor, I used a 2 inch hole saw bit in my drill to cut the holes. There is always the plug that is left when you cut with a hole saw. I foamed, and when the foam reached the hole, I placed the plug I had cut out into the hole and placed a weight on top of it. When it cured, the plug was held in place with the foam. I then glassed over the plug, sealing the hole once and for all.

how far apart did you drill your holes, and how much was your boat slanted to make the foam run down, and how long did it take your 2 cup mixture to become full size. did you wait till the foam dried before going on to the next hole.
