This site and forum are great. I just have one suggestion. If i have to do a procedure, Iboats should have a parts sales rep that can tell me all the gaskets and etc. i need to complete the job. I posted that my impeller was a round ring. I now have to pull most of the cooling hoses and manifolds apart. It would be nice to tell them what i am doing and they provide all the gaskets to acomplish it. I intend to support this forum and commerce site but it could use a little tweaking.

Maybe try paying Don, Bondo, ZB and others to work from home and recommend parts packages. Your prices are competitive and im sure your sales will increase with them on your team.

There is no way, that anyone, can give you exact parts lists for every possible job for every possible engine or drive over every possible year, and know all the changes and minor differences in parts from all the manufacturers.

It doesn't hurt to dream, but come on. Join the real world here.
Everyone wants the lowest possible price, for the best product, and now you want someone to figure out all the parts you need for free and make a kit for you and let someone else pay for that manpower and expertise....... get real.

artificialreef : to concur with Don S, you will have to do a lot of research on your own if you intend to get the right parts. Most parts have some type of part number or casting number. Don is right - there are just too many configurations out there for anyone to know everything about every one!

<"Iboats should have a parts sales rep that can tell me all the gaskets and etc. i need to complete the job."> I'm sure they do if you give them the right part numbers.

Wow, I had a few cocktails when i made this stupid post and wanted to just forget it but, dang you folks are harsh. I sometimes use this forum to just babble with fellow boaters. Didnt think that deserved the bitchslapping i got. Will remember to not mention names next time. Everything is always so doom and gloom here, thought some bs might lighten things up. Guess not. Will remember not to tie up to D,T,S and S. Real buzz kill. Lighten up.

You shouldn't drink and post questions on a boating forum. You know how it is when you are sober and having to listen to a drunk babbling on and on...:D

I vote for a CLOSED sign

Same here, the guy gets real advice, then gets butthurt and says he won't tie up with us???
I don't want someone to tie up with me who's tears may or may not overwork our bilge pumps and possibly send us to Davy Jones Locker. :D

And here you are looking for a chance to take another shot before a mod sees it. You are perpetuating the problem.

Re: Web site recommendation

no one got slapped.
sometimes the poor parts guy at our shop, usually me, gets slapped cause the customer has purchased some combubulated rig that the last 10 flying monkeys destroyed.
recently I sold a water pump kit for a 93 OMC cobra with a 5.0L ford.
guy brought it back all mad that I ruined his weekend cause I sold him the wrong parts.
I finnaly ot him to bring the boat to me for a look see,
over the years someone had converted it to a CRANKSHAFT mounted johnson seawater pump.
how was I supposed to know that?
kinda like a recent post about a combubulated volve 280 something with a world of mismatched parts and no pictures.
I think DonS bowed out of that one and I wont join.
quite often a part may physically fit but not work correctly.
most parts personell are minimum wage and can only look at a book or a screen.

my take is i think that would be hard to accomplish.
i can't say that i've had to many jobs i've done to my boat that started out one way, and ended in another. yes, i had to fix what i thought the issue was, but many times, going after the repair leads to other discovery's of things that are amiss.
have ya ever pre ordered some repair parts for your boat only to find that ya didn't need some of the items ordered, or that you needed other parts to accomplish to project that you didn't order. to many variables imho.
this doesn't even take into account of what mfg. of parts do you, the owner of the boat, want to use. what quality parts do you want? glm, seirra, etc.

my guess would be many have posted pui here... i'm guilty... agreed, someone usually straightens me right up too.. i know Don S has straightened me right up for me not being able to read, more than once too.. that's ok too. i should learn to read.. ;)

have a great day folks..... :D
