have got myself a seahawk4 have made the floor the box seat with swivel chair ,taken the mod from someone on this site about the battery box being made out of a milk crate , the crate I will cut out the panels with a hot knife so my battery will fit in. mount the battery box\seat at the front of the boat have a plastic waste pipe that runs the length of the wooden floor to the 40lbs thrust motor where the wires are placed inside

can i use an inverter 12volt 240 volts from the battery would it drain power quickly from the battery if i put a charging unit on it would it work. or what about a solar panel for charging it (no much luck in Scotland of sun what would you do ?????


also been noticing that if I put an old seagull outboard the intex motor mount seem to tilt when its in the water only observed this while watching you tube trying to get ideas for my boat is there any way to strengthen the transom so this does not happen

once I have my boat the way i want it will post photos , thanks bun ps have a seagull outboard and a 40lbs troll motor, any help would be nice , thanks bun.( Iain)

Hi, I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish with an inverter?

But yes, an inverter will drain power from your battery quite quickly if converting to 240v.

Perhaps you should post photos of the transom area you wish to reinforce. We are not familiar with your seahawk4, and photos would help us to understand the issue.

Small solar panels will at best maintain a battery, will not charge it.

I agree, you would have to buy top of the line NASA solar panels to charge the battery while cruising. Not to mention the space needed to haul the things with you. If your worried about power get 2 batteries.

The Seahawk 4 can handle up to 1.5hp or 18lbs, how much does your old seagull outboard weigh?

thanks will get back to you I am about to put this in the water once the weather breaks the old seagull is very light short shaft engine it runs well , will get the weight for you , the electric thing was to see if I could charge the battery while running the 40lbs motor I have a 12 Vlt BATTERY which is at the front of the boat attached via half inch plastic pipe coupled to the with metal connector's , I WILL GET ANOTHER BATTERY problem solved, got to keep thinking. cheers guys catch ya oan the flipside
