Weep Hole Crud - Seems like too much?

I know the weep holes are supposed to "weep" after running the motor. But is this much crud normal?

I ran the motor yesterday for about 20 mins in the driveway with some earmuffs... and this started about 5 minutes after I shut it off. It drips for about 15 minutes... and fills about 2-3 ounces (best guess).

It looks nearly black... kind of dark greyish. Has a thick consistancy.

I just changed the lower unit oil... and its clearly coming from a weep hole... In one of the pictures, you can see it coming from the upper weep also.

This is an older 2 stroke (Johnson 28HP SPL) using 50 mix... The exhaust comes out ABOVE the prop.

Sure looks/sounds excessive for a twenty minute run time. Check to make sure you have spark on both cylinders next time you run it. You could also crack the drain/fill plug just to check that no water is in there but it looks like it is just unburned fuel/oil from running the motor. At the end of a days trolling I try to remember to run my outboard at high speed for a few minutes to clean some of that stuff out before shutting down but you can't do that on muffs. Best of luck. If the G/C oil is okay, take the mtr to the water and run the heck out of it. And then check it again.

Motor starts easy... and runs pretty solid. Its alittle picky at idle, but after it warms up... runs good.

Boobie... I was thinking the exact same thing. I'm in the middle of swapping a steering cable now... but planned on just taking it out to see how it does... just wanted to get some thoughts before I took it out.

I put a cup under the motor to catch it... and today I noticed the water was clearly separated from the black residue (oil).

I'll keep everyone updated.

Thanks for the insights,
