I have a 1642 monark. Flat bottom. Has a 35 hp johnson. Long shaft. transom has been rebuilt to fit. My battery and fuel tank rest in the very back. But i have console and controls about 5 foot from back. Still doesnt plane out unless i add weight up front over half way up the boat. Boat does not cavitate.

So, it's not going bow high on you - it won't even get up on plane? What HP is the boat rated for? How much weight did the console and transom add when you put them on? Where's the anti-ventilation plate in relationship to the keel of the boat?

It raises the bow some but not to the point to where you cant see. Av plate it about 1/2 inch above keel. And the boats weight and hp plate is gone. Transom and console may have added 50 pounds all together. When my wife moves fprward the boat gains about 5 mph and levels out well.

Well, I think your motor is mounted too high. But I'm also thinkin' you're underpowered too. Maybe by half.

Any photos?

LOL ... good find Huber! I was searching around to figure the hull out (and even went to the specs page) but didn't find that link. Best I came up with were some random images and had it figured as a bigger hull.

I retract my "under powered" comment ;)

Lol i didnt think it was under powered. But. Weight of 25 and 35 should be the same of that era johnson. As only difference is reed cage. Intake and carb. But i did a compression test. Got 100psi on top. And 110 on the bottom. Whats your take on it? Thinks its lost enough power to not plane?
