were to get rings

i have a 1983 488 sn 6882207 in my cs project boat
when i got it it sat for 6 years got it to turn over but had some stuck valves
so off came the head just got it back from machine shop
the guys at shop said water sat in valves (upper exugest maifold toast) and should replace rings
the guy that sold it to me said it was rebuilt shortly before he got it and he never ran it
so pulled motor to replace went to order rings and found prices all over the block
the best was $55.00 from ebasic power Piston Ring Set | Mercruiser 3.7L 4 Cylinder
for a full set all 4 cyls so why does everone else want around $30 for one set for one cyl
has anyone baught engin parts from them ?

Wow, that's one long sentence - bottom line is you get what you pay for. Cheap rings are made in somethingstan, and the good stuff is made in North America! I've purchased cheap parts for a classic car and regretted it. For something as important as rings - don't go cheap

Howdy,

I don't think it really matters where you get the rings. I would probably get them from NAPA.

btw, the 3.7L head, pistons, rings and certain other parts are Ford 460 parts.
