I just posted this to Outboard Non-repair in hopes of more views. Should have put it there in the first place! Thanks.

64,Fuel mix is originally 24:1. You might check with the "Chrysler Crew "
to see if a 64 West Bend can be run leaner on todays TCW3 rated oil.
Chrysler purchased West Bend circa 65.Displacement 44.7 cu. in.Point gap is .020 May be either magneto or battery ignition.J4C plugs @ .030.Tillotson OM carb.140psi compression at cranking speed.May share parts with the early Chryslers.

I have the a West Bend 50 HP also. Mine was made for a Wards, 1964 Sea King speed boat. The manual I found, "Old Outboard Motor Service Manual Vol. 2", also covers your model. I'm still looking for a more detailed manual. The positive ground on these motors surprised me. I inherited the boat and motor from my Dad, and it has been sitting in his back yard for 15 years. I hope to have it running soon.
