Wondering if anyone watches the Westminster dog show, which will be on USA this weekend. I've bred black, chocolate, and yellow labs and always curious to see the hunting breed category. The half-time show should be relatively boring though :D

Always try to watch the show. Could care less about the other breeds but do like to watch the sporting breeds, Love Pointers, retreivers, and the Setters.

I love Boxers, Rotties and now Mini Manchester Terriers (My Mr. Bigglesworth). I like to see these breeds, they are so magnificent; however I appreciate all of the different breeds and I quite enjoy seeing them.

Ah, memories...

When I first got my black lab/pit about 8 years ago, I was home with a busted leg and that show was on all weekend. It amazed me that my dog could see the other dogs on tv. That's where she picked up her bad habit though (my fault). When I point to the tv and say "Luna Look!", she starts growling and snarling and charges the tv. Most people get a kick out of it, but I almost lost the tv a couple of times. And it has some scratches on the screen. I'll probably put it on in the other room for her this weekend. Thanks for the "heads up" :D :D :D

PS And if she behaves I'll give her some pistachio nuts. Ya know the ones ya can't open? She gets em, bites em open and spits out the shells..... Another of her doggie tricks............

I'd rather watch the grass grow. Seeing halfway intelligent dogs makes me dislike my moron of a mutt even more. I do like to watch the hunting dog trials on ESPN Outdoors though. ;)

We got a Portuguese Water Dog last year. Incredible animal. It’s fun to watch the field trials…they are held in water. It hunts, it points, and it herds. Supposedly, PWD’s can be trained to retrieve from a depth of 6-ft, tho I doubt my critter would willingly do it…maybe with ankle weights. :)

Originally, PWD’s would sit on the bow of fishing boats and look for schools of fish. They were trained to pull the nets out and herd the fish into the nets. They are capable of extended ocean swimming time.

Can you say, "dummer than a box of rocks"?

Give me an old Heinz 57 any day of the week. The only other dog I ever really wanted was a Jack Dempsey.

"It sure is nice to have a winner that can drink out of the bowl instead of sit in it!

Someone told the "Best In Show" judge that. ABC just ran a "Person of the Week" piece on him. Very interesting character.

We've always been partial to the larger breeds (we used to have a Neapolitan Mastiff) but my wife and I ended up with a 13" Lemon Beagle (her attitude impressed my wife) and a Heinz 57 that we found at the Washington D.C. Humane Society. We felt better about rescuing the girls rather that getting dogs from a breeder.

My wife and I always kid about "Brown Dog, Number One!" since she's the only one like her we've ever seen!

We were all rooting for the Newfie!
:D
