wh-27 carb problems

I have an 83 150 with the wh-27 carbs.
Fuel is pouring from the bottom carb.
I have on order new needles and seats but of course these carbs have the foam floats.
Any way to check these floats to see if they're ok before assembly?
Replacements are not available that I can tell.
I also have an 84 150 (low compression on two cylinders) that I can rob parts from, same wh-27 carbs though.

Buy a set of WH anything carbs off eBay for a v6 later than 1987. They'll be hard plastic floats.

Merc quit making them. Aftermarket has not made any. There's lots of used ones around, and they seldom fail.

Are you saying the floats from an 87 or later WH carb will fit the WH-27?
Mercury nor the aftermarket make no replacement float for a WH series carb?
I searched ebay and nothing currently.
