Just a quick post about mine. I (my son) took it off when we were reinstalling my drive a couple of weeks ago, because the tilt/trim pistons were stuck under it. I suppose I could've taken them loose at the other end, but I wanted to check out how the boat works w/o the tail anyway.
I found out that it is a necessary item for my particular boat. Doesn't work worth a hoot w/o it. Bounces even with the drive all the way down. I was wishing I had brought the pieces to the lake with me, but didn't. Basically wasted an outing finding that out, since we weren't able to go very far like that.
