My "New-to-Me" boat has been extremely enjoyable and I work to get the minor kinks out of her. She is a 98 SeaMaster dual console with a Johnny 115spl. I was pleased with the performance, but felt I should be able to get a few more MPH out of her (with family in the boat would turn between 4800 - 5000 rpms). She had a slightly dinged 15" aluminum prop and the biggest complaint was how sluggish the boat was around the dock ... was a real sled with slow speed maneuvers.
Anyway, I broke down and got a Viper 15" SS prop. WOW! What a difference! I had almost been convinced to go to a 13" pitch, but that just didn't feel right. I stuck to my thoughts and the 15" is turning 5600 rpms, I gained about 5mph (that is by feel, not by speedometer), slow speed maneuverablity has increased dramatically. My wife, who doesn't care about performance, mentioned that she thought the engine sounded smoother and not lugging as hard.
Yep, I am one happy camper!
