Here is a scary story but true.........

A local guy saved up his money to go on a snowmobiling vacation up into Canada where there are great trails. He had just purchased a brand new SkiDoo sled for about 8K. He was taking his wife so he borrowed a friends late model Arctic Cat Sled and 2 up snowmobile trailer. His car would not pull the 2 sled trailer and he borrowed another friends 05 Chev Silverado Crew Cab.

1- borrowed truck
1- borrowed snowmobile
1- borrowed side by side covered snowmobile trailer
Plus his new sled

Well the weather got bad and it was getting late so he and his wife stopped at a hotel north of Montreal for the night with the destination about 4 hours away.

Woke up the following morning and the entire truck/trailer/snowmobile rig was GONE!!! :%

I am friend with the owner of the truck. This entire episode is a nightmare but as per the Police in Canada it is common! :$

He should have borrowed a car alarm.

Re: What a mess

That's a touch surprising to me. In the eight years I lived in Northern Ontario, the only times my keys left the ignition of my Jeep was when I travelled to the big city of Sudbury or Toronto--otherwise, they stayed in the ignition where I knew where they were!

They'll find the truck in the spring sometime. It's impossible to sell the rig in Canada, or get a title on an American registered rig. Snow machines and trailer are another story, I'm afraid!

Re: What a mess

I know there was on the truck (*full coverage) but I am not sure that covered the trailer (which belonged to a differant owner) and as far as the sleds I know they had liability but no knowledge if they had more.

I know in B.C. that black market sleds are a hot item.
As of the truck proably striped out.:'(
