anyone know just how much air pressure to put into a Z 131? I have been pumping it up to 'hard' with a foot pump. Do I need more? and just how would you check the pressure anyhow, with that type of fill valve?

Correct inflation pressure for a Zodiac boat is 240 millibars which comes out to 3.5 psi. Zodiac sells a pressure indicator (Code 1008 from their access catalog). Or you could get a pressure gauge from defender.com... they have a great selection.

After I posted the reply, I went to defender.com but couldn't find one that fits Zodiac boats. You might try the Kwik pressure gauge sold at basspro.com for about $30.

Better buy the Zodiac original gauge, this brand uses a special air valve with a rubber like pin in middle, no other gauge brand will push it to have a reading, most others gauges are for spring pin air valve like Halkey Roberts type which are the most comon used on non Zodiac brands.

Inflate all tubes to middle green segment on Zodiac (Yellow rubber gauge)

cause is not always handy to have the gauge i use the thumb test! The pressure is enough when you press the tube with your thumb and the tube makes a small curve or try to sit on the tube! But notice that during noon the pressure increased because of the air expansion so better inflate during noon

If you want to get the best water performance from your sib/engine configuration that's the worst method to use, that is, you won't have the slight idea of what 3.0/3.5 psi pressure is if you have not reached it using a gauge to finger touch that pressure, nothing to compare against on how hard you really need to be. Using that method will give you about 1.0 psi off.

Is the same as inflating your car tires by finger touch :D, if you have already a expenside water toy, buy yourself a pressure gauge and stay away from experimenting inflation procedures.
