trying to figure out if i have a bad rectifier,it is charging 16.5 at WOT. But im wondering if a bad rectifier will also cause loss of rpm at WOT..sometimes it runs 4400 rpm & 30-32 mph then other times it will run 5200 rpm & 37-39 mph...thanks !
Bad rectifier directly causing a loss of RPM is improbable. Rectifier burn out is more likely than rectifier short out. Even if your rectifier does short out then it is unlikely that the battery cable resistance is low enough for the starter to work but high enough to spoil the ignition. I think you are better off asking frank and john what is the most likely reason to lose rpm at WOT.
