When taking a small 2 core cable in (or out of a hull) I have seen nylon access covers used.
Does anybody know what they are called?

A straight fwd grommet would be no use ... the one pic attached is similar to what was used previously. (white nylon triangular) 2nd pic shows a broken one I had to repair on the previous boat.

Failing that I am going to need a neat 2 pin surface mount waterproof socket ... any suggestion.

It's to connect 2 wires from Nav light thru deck, wires exit out of wakeboard tower, and need to be taken through the gunwale.

The cover in the second picture is often called a clamshell. I tried to find one on the iboats store so I could give you a link, but the search function here is more or less worthless. Perhaps someone will have better luck and post one for you, or you could try another online retailer with a more functional search feature. Those clamshells often come with transducers for fishfinders, so you might find a replacement from Garmin or Humminbird that would meet your needs.
