what are these holes

on the front of my lower end unit for a 1983 150hp johnson i have 2 tiny holes one is hair below where lower end seperates fron motor other is level with bottom hole where you put flushing device it is crome looking what are these for

I think you will find that these are for a pitot type of boat speed indicator.
