What are your hobbies besides boating?

So, what does everyone blow their money on besides our boats?

I've recently gotten the wife into shooting. It has been a hobby of mine since I was a kid, but she had never even held a gun until we were together. She now has a Sig P225 and a Ruger LCP and can shoot both of them better than I can! Early fall she will be taking her Hunter Safety Course, and is excited to join me in the field this fall.

I also play guitar, but haven't been in a band for a few years. Hope to get back more into that once kiddo is older, if he shows interest.

Used to be pretty into hot rod cars as well, but the boats have kinda pushed those out.

Boating is not my hobby. Fishing is my hobby. I just use a boat whenever I can to go fishing. If I don't have a boat, I go fishing anyway. :fish2: :p

The boat is probably one of my least active hobbies, I am a licensed gun manufacture so I build guns, do photography, hunt, fish, woodworking, make replacement antique parts on my mill and lathe, I am always busy with some project.

We have a koi pond in our yard. There's about 30 fish and tons of different plants. We have koi, goldfish, comets and shubunkins. Four of the koi are quite large now. About 20"-24" with some sizable girth to them.

1978 Pontiac Trans Am Y88 (Gold Special Edition). Originally numbers matching Pontiac V8 400. Have the block stashed away and currently has a 1970 Pontiac 455 bored 0.060 over. Currently off the road waiting on maintenance - sitting since 2011 hasn't helped matters any.

Model trains - published a few times in various magazines in HO and N scale. Currently have my boys interested in Lionel trains as they each have their own freight & passenger sets which we, and Grandpa, add to yearly at Christmas time. Currently collecting bits and pieces for a Lionel layout in the basement - admiral's request we build one. Not sure she's fully in tune in what this is going to run...

Fishing - boys all have their own poles and hopefully my oldest will get his first fish this year. My middle child got his first last year.

Like others, I've been through many phases. Hunting, shooting, fishing, motorcycles, classic cars. Sold my '69 Mustang and used that money to get into boating. Can't have it all at the same time unfortunately.

Depends on the time of year. Winter is snowboard/ski and basketball, spring is son's little league. Summer is boating. Fall is hunting. Fish some spring and fall. Shadetree mechanic on all vehicles all throughout the year. Firearms shooting and building, reloading for hunting or price....

LOL ... I'm as eclectic about hobbies as anything else:

Boating is probably one of the main staples. I just got certified for SCUBA this year, so that's starting up. I do some fly fishing when I can.

Lotsa' artwork - illustration, drawin' and paintin', 3D modeling and photography.

Play a little music.

Do some flying with Civil Air Patrol (right seat) plus work with the cadet program.

I'm all over the board.

I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir but hold onto that Lionel. If nothing else, memories from your dad are worth it.

We ended up purchasing a couple sets from a member of our church - they were going to pitch them if I recall. One is an old, 1940's vintage, Lionel tinplate freight set - green center cab, a few freight cars and a caboose. The other is an Ives tinplate steam passenger set - steam engine, tender, and 3 passenger cars. While it hasn't run in a while its stashed safely in my basement - I run a dehumidifier so it's good.

I still have the smoke tablets for the smoke stack. had the loco and tender appraised about 20 years ago.

I fish. I tie flies for fly fishing. I collect fishing rods (not really, I just can't pass a good sale on a rod, so I have quite a few). I am a post-certified law enforcement officer and I volunteer as a reserve for the sheriff department, so a lot of my free time is spent doing that. That's not really a hobby though. I used to do medieval reenactment but haven't in a few years now. I used to build custom motorcycles but standing over dishing forms and english wheels pounding metal in to submission ruined my back so I can't do that anymore.

I guess boating isn't so much a hobby as a necessity. Two of my homes are on lakes and so recreating on the water is just part of life for us. I end up spending time taking care of those two summer homes which is almost a hobby at this point. I wish I had time for actual hobbies but my business keeps me hopping. I spend a lot of my free time lifting weights at the gym so I suppose that could be almost considered a hobby.
