I'm well into restoring a 1978 Fairline Mirage 29 with twin Mercruiser 470s, trying to do it right (if there is such a thing!). The motors were taken out and have been rebuilt. The transom and gimbal mounts are replacement/refurbs as the old ones were sooo corroded. Ditto new SEI drives. Of course, taking things apart there was much corrosion throughout, including all of the bolts. The hull is in great shape, including the transom.
I wasn't the one that disassembled the boat, so I didn't have an opportunity to catalog anything as it was disassembled.
As a result, I'm not sure what kind of bolts I should be looking for to join the two transom units (inner and outer) through the hull. I'm hoping that this is "no brainer" stuff to folks on here that can steer me straight. Perhaps I can just pick up bolts at my local hardware store of a certain specification (nice, but I'm doubting it...). I have Service Manual #6, but haven't found where the bolts are specified, only how much to torque and in what order.
Thanks in advance!
