This is a 18' aluminum boat. All I know about it is I was told it use to belong to the Coast Guard, and it had a 4 cylinder Grey Marine I/O Engine. the controls looked to be from the 60s. It is not a big deal, but it would be nice to know what I have here. Man at all the rivets in this thing, but they all appear to be in good condition.

I wish it still had the motor bolted on to check out, never heard of Grey Marine, and that outdrive hole in the transom is unique.

Not a Starcraft, possibly a Lonestar/Chrysler? It's possible that it was made by a smaller company that is no longer around too.

Nice old rig, I like the hull design on that one:)

What a neat boat. I hope you can restore/save the hardtop and windshield.

Sure looks like a Lonestar.I think Grey Marine dates back to the 30s and probably at least into the 60s and 70s.Mostly straight drive inboards. There have been a number of outdrives dating back to the 30s that may have used A Greys, Chryslers or even Chriscraft engines. Most of theses were marine adaptations of industrial engines.I believe Greys were based on Contenentals,Chryslers based on the various lines of car/truck motors including the slant 6 that they layed on its side,ChrisCrafts were based on the Hercules motors.I once owned a late 20s Brennan 6 from a display It was 637 cubes,125 hp overhead cam. Brennan was a small company in Syracuse NY. Also owned a Brennan imp 4 cyl. that weighed a little over 100 lbs fully equiped with starter, generater and transmission. rated at about 20 hp.I toured the many years shut down factory with 90+ year old Mr.Brennan in the 70s. Sorry, I just had a flashback.

flash backs are cool...lol..I think one piece of glass has a crack..the top is a little low, I have been considering raising it or removing it altogether..or maybe move steering wheel outside so I can stand up while driving.
Gray Marine inline 4cylinder motor model # 80SDF engine # S1909 and a Eaton Marine Powernaut Drive serial # A-10202..I had saved this info just found it..not sure if it will help. the steering was a pulley/cable system, I still have the steering wheel assembly if anyone can use it.

If its from the 50s its likely a Continental, newer could be Renault or any of the US 4s.
Joined to the outdrive with a relatively simple jointed shaft. There used to be a lot of marinizing
kits could have been any number of 4s converted.Willys/Jeeps F head and flat head were popular.
By the way if you go to fiberglassics.com there are a lot of brochures mostly fiberglass but many aluminum
models as well.
