Looking to do front brakes on my 2020 Grand Cherokee Laredo_Only 22k miles but I want to change pads as PM. Want to get Mopar but pricing is $100+ more than other quality brands. They can't be worth the difference in price? I see what I consider top quality brands such as Bosch,Bendix,Wagner,Max brake as well as store brands like Napa.I want to use the best quality on my 2020 .I go thru brakes often on my 04 GC with 180k miles and have resigned to use the cheap China crap simply for cheap price but this post is about keeping my 2020 like new .Charlie

do you care about stopping more or not causing brake dust as much.

if you want maximum stopping power, you are looking at semi-metallic brake pads. down sides is they wear the rotor more and squeak

if you want minimal dusting, ceramic pads. less braking force than semi-metallic, minimal dusting, minimal squeak.

I have been getting power stop for the daily drivers. I get Delco for the truck

check your grand Cherokee to see if your calipers are hanging on the pins.

I have found a excellent general automotive shop. Father and 4 sons. Brake job with new rotors and pads about $440 total. Far better than Honda Accord originals. Very smooth pedal action. Love it better than Honda pedal action.

Put Hawks Performance pads on my Civic EX.
Great brakes, stop on a dime, but dusted heavily.

Got tired of the dust and swapped them out for PowerStop Ceramic pads and coated rotors while I was at it.
Pads holding up well.
Rotors are still rust free after 10 months(y)

For the F150, I stayed with the Motorcraft brakes and rotors that came OEM.
Stops like new, but rotors rust over night.
Not good for a truck that live 30 days a year on the beach

Will probably try PowerStop on it next time

I like the Wagoner and Delco brands for my everyday drivers (but all my vehicles are GM brands). I agree with Scott's assessment of the type of pads and their wear and squeak levels. There is not much that gives you both long wear, no dust, and no squeak with full stopping power. So pick your poisons.

Funny- Just today I ordered new brake pads for our 80,000 mile Mazda CX5. Did some research and decided on these Raybestos EHT pads due to their high rating and reasonable cost. Hopefully they’ll last as long as the OEM pads!

I like the Bosch ceramic pads or the Raybestos R line ceramic. I use them interchangeably on my personal vehicles. Get them from Rock Auto as I do 99% of my car parts

Did a little research on a Jeep forum and found out that there are 2 brands that manufacture and supply OEM to Mopar. Akebono and Magneti Marelli .Never heard of either but I saw Magneti brakes with the Mopar emblem on the packaging. Both are in $60 range so a little more than brands already mentioned and waaaay less than Mopar. FWIW Magneti Marelli is a European company. They were/ are known for good MG parts. The Jeeps that get MM brakes are likely the French jeeps like the Renegade. Akebono OEM’s for a ton of companies and are high quality if you can find them.

The combo I've used for over a decade now on all mine are Power Stop slotted rotors (not drilled, not dimpled, only slots) with their Z23 pads. Performance/non- performance, car & truck alike. The only vehicle I have that doesn't have the PS rotors is the SRT because it it still has the factory slotted rotors on it.

FYI Magneti Marelli is a Tier 1 OEM parts supplier that supplies almost all automotive brands with parts. they even supply mercruiser with fuel injectors and other bits.

most Tier 1 suppliers you never heard of, however you probably have had their parts on your vehicles.

I've used most the pads mentioned in this thread. I've gone back to using GM on mine... mostly because my friend at the dealer makes them "fall" off the back of a truck for me. The 3/4 and 1 tons go 100k hauling trailers around town using them... no reason to swap. I tried EBC on my daily last brake change (oem went 96k) and they went 19k miles. Stopped great, dusted like a sand storm. Wore like soap.

Powerstop, hawk, MM, Akebono (who I believe is GMs tier 1 for my truck) and raybestos (rotors for GM depending on model). They're all fine.

Lot of GM OEM pads are TRW. I think the service pads are Akebono. GM dealers have access to 2 separate product lines. OEM and service. Service is good quality but not OEM and the OEM. All boxes are marked AC Delco.

The oe parts I get come in a box that just says GM. The service parts are ACdelco typically... I think the way it works is GM genuine and ACdelco original equipment are the factory install parts, only difference is the box. Then the acdelco gold is the old professional which is service grade. Then you have silver which is the budget minded alternative.
