I have a 1992 mercruiser 3.0L that had ac delco spark plugs which were replaced with bosch after the head gasket was replaced.

At first it idled fine and after running it on the lake it began to idle poorly and would sometimes stall when putting it into gear.

Is it the plugs? I have heard that NGK plugs are what I should be using.

Thanks for any advice,

David

I've always used NGK YR5's in my mercruiser's. If you do alot of putting around any sparkplug will foul out. Try opening that baby up every now and again. Check the idle setting and the throttle cable adjustment. The tech that did the work probably didn't mess with the carb when he replaced the head gasket he just disconected the throttle cable and reset it when the boat was out of the water , not taking into consideration the back pressure from the water, now the idle is to low. Adjust the Idle in the water. It may also be the idle mixture screw setting. Good Luck!
