I am replacing my 305 volvo penta AQ200 with a 350. I have a volvo 280 leg.My longblock just arrived this afternoon. It is going into an 18 foot with a pretty good V hull. I am thinking of going with an Edelbrock performer 2101 manifold, but I cannot decide on the carb. Rochester? Holley? Edelbrock? What are the pros and cons.
Thanks

The Cons are,...... Unless you're using something that was offered by the manufacturer,......
You'll be building Your Own Linkages..........

Are you boating in Freshwater, or Salt,..??....

If it's Saltwater,.... You'll have Problems with an Aluminum Manifold......

I will be boating in both. I do have freshwater cooling if that makes any difference to what you are refering to with aluminum. How much trouble is changing the linkage? Is there just a new one that can be added. I had a Volvo AQ200D with a Rochester 2bbl (2GE I believe) with electric choke. The boat was manufactured in 1981.
Thanks

I would choose a 7104 http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_new/mc/manifolds/chevy_sb_perf-rpm.shtml.
Even though you won't be turning your engine up to 6500 it will be less restrictive at WOT than the regular performer, which is tweaked for the 305.
Holley makes a Marine 650 cfm spreadbore carb. I put one on my Volvo 5.7. The only thing that I had to fabricate was a new fuel line, linkages worked with slight relocating. Swap gave an extra 250 - 300 rpm which worked out to be about 6 mph. Due to differences in gearing, boats, props and setup your results may vary.
