I was changing out rusted bolts on my mercruiser 1 outdrive top gear cover. I had the outdrive off the boat for maintenance. The outdrive tilted, I'm not sure whether the prop had any pressure on it or not but when I got the cover bolted back on I noticed what looks like gear oil leaking from around the back of the prop. I assume it was gear oil and not engine oil because of the color. The pool was about 1/4 cup of oil at the most and I haven't noticed any more since I cleaned up the mess, not yet anyway. Can anyone tell me what this could be?
