TO start off i am new here and appreciate all the help i have already used with this site. heres my problem. i recently purchased a 18' closed bow boat off CL. the hull is in great shape while the interior is a little rough and the outdrive is a mystery. long story short is i got the boat running and we took it out to the river. ran great till it got hot and i had to let it cool down before returning to the dock. my limited boating knowledge would suggest the impeller is toast but thats where im stuck. i cant find on here where to start looking for how to seperate the upper and lower outdrive because i dont know what kind of boat i have!!!!! here is some pictures and everything i do know. any help regaurding what kind of boat this is and or outdrive would be great! thanks for the help.

What i Know-
title says the boat is a 1966 Fantasy (cant find that manufacturer in that year)
the motor is a GM made straight 6 (250 cubic inch i think)
it is an I/O
the mercruiser outdrive serial number is 2024855 (hard to read the 4855 but im sure about 202)

and here are some pictures. thanks again!!IMG_5314.jpgIMG_5315.jpgIMG_5313.jpgIMG_5312.jpg

It may be the water pump on the motor itself ???

Welcome to iboats.

Let me move this post to the right area and point out some required reading ;) First is this http://forums.iboats.com/mercruiser...tdrives/adults-only-no-exceptions-288430.html

You have an inline 6 cylinder and in the post you will see Mercruiser Info and that is VERY important to read http://forums.iboats.com/mercruiser...cellaneous-mercruiser-information-329915.html

Have fun! Yes, you sound like you need an impeller and the other infor would also help get it running in great shape!

the boat model has nothing to do with the out drive, being a '66 model it my be a an MR l or MR 2 hard to tell pic is kind of small.
I had to take the anode off just above the prop. should be a plastic plug to remove to get to the bolt, then there are 6 or 8 bolts that holds the two together.
