Ok...I need help..I am screwed. I bought a 1978 Bayliner Quartermaster 1950, with a 120 hp I/O from someone for 1500. It was demo'd for me. My second time in the water i got stranded and it wouldn't go into gear. $800 dollars later I got the coupling and the engine mounts replaced. I take it back out, it works fine. Then the next time, the boat won't start. $500.00 later I get a new starter and my carb. rebuilt. Take it out, it works fine. The next time it won't start at all, just click. Well I figured it out, the starter was wired up wrong, but worked initially ? I rewired it, and it works fine. But the problem is, I'm stupid. I bought the boat, using a credit card. the cost to fix it using the credit card. Now the oil pressure is 25# while starting it, and 40# at full speed. The color of the oil is light brown, not very oily. Under the cap for the oil, there is white goo. The oil smells like gas. What do I do ?<br />

Your $1500 initial cost will run you about $6000 after a while. I just went through all that mess, and still dealing with issues. Get rid of it while you can.

The proverbial can of worms... I second the motion to get rid of it while you can. It'd be the same thing the guy that sold it to you did.

change the oil to get the gas out. & the filter. 40 lbs. oil pressure if fine. i wouldn't sink a lot of $$$ into it though. it's a shame u got burned.

gas may be getting in through pump diaphram. especially if someone substituted automotive pump. white goo is water in oil. hope its just condensation and not the normal riser/manifold rusted out.
