What do I need(besides an outboard and gas tank) to run the engine on my Seahawk II?

Sorry I'm new to boats in general and I bought the Seahawk II last year and loved it. Now this year I'm going to put a motor on it. Either a 30lb thrust minn kota or 2hp outboard. I think all I need for the minn kota is a battery, battery holder, and mount, or am I missing something? And what would I need to get the outboard running? If anyone can give me info on this I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

You're all over it, sarge. Motor mount for that little raft should be widely available for around 75 bucks. As I recall it just sticks into a couple of holes and hangs off the back. I think you'll get better performance if you stick to the trolling motor. I know she's rated for a small outboard, but I suspect you'll get what's called tacoing if you use the two horse. I could be wrong. Certainly won't hurt to try it. As for what you need to get the outboard running? I dunno. What kind is it? How old? When was it last run? I bought a 2.5 Merc from a guy last winter. It had been sitting in his shed for two years. I changed the impeller and LU lube, put in some fresh gas, stuck it in a barrel, pulled the rope three times and it started right up. Walked away with it idling and came back five minutes later to find it still puttering away. That tickled me down to my toenails.;)

Thanks so much that really cleared things up for me. Probably gonna go ahead and get the minn kota. Less hassle Thanks again!

Ya know, I've been looking around on craigslist and found this:http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwi/boa/2311700970.html
Looks great and if it's going to be a lot faster than a little 30lb minn kota, then I think I may go this route. What do ya think? I figure I'm going to spend about $300 anyway with the electric before it's all said and done.

He says $300 OBO, so if you want it, make him an offer. Don't think I'd pay more than $200. Not sure what implications the long shaft will have.

If it's not to late I wouldn't recommend the long shaft as it may not work at all. That's meant to push sail boats and the torque will twist the motor off the boat. I have the same boat and use a 3 hp twin Johnson short shaft (+ dolphin wing) with very little trouble but it's a touchy setup. I've also got a 30lb minkota and it works fine but with either one the wood transom plate is always adjusted upward to the maximum. The trick is to inflate the boat nice and hard and trim the motor properly. At idle I tilt it up just so the prop is barely in the water (roughly 45 degrees) and it can still pick up water for cooling. under power it ends up at about 90 degrees to the water. I use an extension on the tiller handle and sit 3 feet or so from the back. I have run like this for hours on end with a boat full of people and beach junk with no problems at all.
Regarding electric vs, gas, electric is quiet but you never really know when it will quit. Great for small ponds and lakes, or sneaking up on fish. Tiny gas outboards are loud but they are more powerful, you can easily judge how far you have to go and they will run all day on a gallon of gas. Plus there is something primal about them, they're just plain fun and kids think they're great. An old 2hp Johnson/Evinrude 2hp short shaft would be perfect for that boat, my 3 is too much.

Yeah i was kinda worried about the length of the shaft. I actually posted a question about that without looking at these replies like an idiot. Sorry about that. I'm gonna have to find a short shaft looks like then. Thanks guys.
