Hi I just got me a new boat well new to me. It's a 1999 key largo 160cc. My question is I can't find any info on them. Is it because they are a good boat and there really isn't any thing going wrong with them or is it they just have not been out long enough. I'm not going out past my harbors and it will mostly be in fresh water so I don't care about the ride. Also if any one knows about the boat why is it I have two scuppers in the transom and then two drains in the floor 2" off the transom that just drain into the bilge. It makes no sense to me.image.jpgimage.jpg

They are a good boat and specialize in fishing boats. They have been around since 1991 and I have not seen or heard of them having problems.

Yup excess water drains into the bilge and the bilge pump will handle that. If the boat is new to you....... inspect/test the bilge pump and be sure to replace your impeller when you check out the motor. DO NOT (I can't say that loud enough) take the previous owner's word for what has been done because you need to check EVERYTHING.

Nice looking fishing boat!

Why would you want more water going into the bilge when it can run out the back?

When your on the hook, drifting, trolling the bow is down/level, the drains will clear the water.
When your underway the bow is up and scuppers will take the water from a wave breaking over the rail/bow, or the thunderstorm you got caught in. (it is Florida. Key Largo)

Nice boat. That's the type of boat you tell your Mom about. Petite, well built, nice lines, smart design, rugged, good worker, low maintenance, able to weather a storm, etc......something you keep for life. Mom would approve. :D

I want to use it as a fresh water boat too. The big open bow will be great for casting

I ended up blocking them off. A 1/2" bilge plug fit great.

So far it's been a great boat but I will say it is a wet boat if you go out in rough water.
