these are the intake ports of the heads on my old engine. The exhaust ports were also in back shape. The intake itself looks great not tust or corrosion.

My guess would be cracked manifold intake or exhaust causing water to leak in.

You can see where the intake manifold gasket has been leaking, allowing water to run down the joint between the heads and the manifold.

silicon intake gasket??

Get the Fel-Pro aluminum based intake gasket, those plastic based stock gaskets for vortecs have ruined a lot of motors when they puked out
