What do you think of a '97 Johnson 70hp for $1000 or less?

Owner says 3weeks of holiday use per year. Has all controls etc. He is open to offers and willing to deliver it to mechanic for inspection.

I've only ever run Yamaha but need cheap power. Thoughts? Will this do me for a few years?

that is a $1800-2200 motor controls are $150...if its got the LCD tach thats another $100..shift/throttle cables are $30 each..great deal there if it checks out.

Oh yea I'm running a 1985 50 that has never had more than carbs apart and a fuel pump. Plenty of life.left
