As stated in the final page of the posting process it takes up to 24 hours before it goes live. Good luck on your ad.

Now is this just if you want to buy something, or selling something?
The reason I ask is that I see someone selling something there.

Re: What do you think of the new Thrifties and Want ads?

You are right - we already had our first person trying to abuse the temporary freeness of the system and put a for sale boat ad there. I have deactivated the ad (will dissapear within 24 hours) and told the person to post the ad in the right area.

DO NOT put for sale ads in the Want ads area to try to get around paying for a boat ad. Our normal boat ads service is well worth the money we charge. If abused, we will have to take this area down. Thanks.

This is great, Admin5!

We have been getting requests for a "flea market" for used parts, etc. for years. The "stuff wanted" section is similarly needed.

I have already had two inquiries about my battery charger. :)

excellent idea A5.
I would rather buy/sell something here where I know
people than on ebay where it's a carpshoot sometimes.
it will eventually pay for this site IMO. the only
dot.com co that has consistantly made a profit over
the last few years is Ebay...
I also posted a WTS add :)

Remeber... only free for a limited time.... they get ya hooked just like drugs, the first ones always free :)

Sounds like a great idea. Charging $5 to ensures that people won't be putting $2 items up for sale. Go to the store to get the cheap stuff.

Thanks Admin5 this is generous indeed.

Other than a VERY used and abused Force 125 manual which ended up as kindling when we bought the new boat, I didn't think I had anything, but I do and its been posted.

Thanks again. :)

Suggestion: add a tab to the top right iBoats splash page so I can find the Want Ads. :)

Re: What do you think of the new Thrifties and Want ads?

I have just purchased an Item from there already, but I have to admit that I do not like the idea of eventually charging for this service. I understand the little item thing, but what if you have a manual or something that someone might need? All of the other forums that I visit on a regular basis that have this service do not charge for it! As a matter of fact I cant remember ever seeing any of them that do.

Just my thoughts!

I agree!! The charge is out of line.
There are probably 5-10 local fishing sites that I can advertise items on that are free of charge. I don't even have to ship the item which is a big plus since the buyers are generally local.
I expect this section of i-boats to die off within 6 months.
