Does anyone have an idea of where I can find a listing of what engines will fit in different boats. I have a 190 SE with a 3.0L ALpha one and runs like a dog, no speed, no pop out of the water. I'm starting to look at the props that I have to put on it, but I think it still will ba a dog.

I'm was wondering if I could put a six in it or something. Is the cross reference for boats that tell me what I can put in the boat. I now Merc has on there web page some info on ALpha one and different engines, I was wonder about boat dealers.

I can't even find Glasstream 190SE, Glasstream may be out of bus.

anyhelp would be nice,

mike

Hell, you could put a 1200 Shaft HP GE Gas Turbine in it if you wanted, but the real world answer is to sell the boat and buy one with the power you seek.

A change of engines to a V6 or V8 requires (at the least) regearing the outdrive as they require different ratios. There really aren't any "hop up" upgrades to the 4 banger, it takes 12-16 HP to gain ONE MPH in speed....and yeah, I know there are turbo kits floating around from years ago for the 3 liters, but the cost+effort does not come close to making a big difference.

You'll be looking at upwards of $20,000.00,......... Parts,+ Labor.............

Like Bomar said,......

those 3.0 and under boats are soo underpowered esp if its 19 ft and over. always go as big as you can. you don't save any fuel and the bigger engines last longer due to the 4 banger allways at top power to keep the captain and riders happy. better money spent to get a different boat, your re-sell will be higher also
