On the trip to iboats I blew a low beam headlight bulb.

No problem. I have changed them before on my other ML. A little tough on the driver side, though because you have to work around the washer tank and can barely see what you are doing.

Got a new bulb, popped the hood and removed the bad bulb. Slipped the new one in place and tried to clip the spring that hods it in place.

AUGH!!
The spring popped out and fell on the ground. Spent the next hour trying to reinsert it in the fitting that I couldn't see because of the washer tank. Got plenty of moral support from Mod 1 and Mod 4, but to no avail.

The assembly has to come out. Didn't want to do that in the parking lot. Buttoned it up with no low beam bulb. It was getting dark.

Started home the next morning with headlights off (I always drive with them on in the daytime).

About noon I stopped at a Ford Dealer in Grand Junction, CO. Western Slope Auto Co.

Even though it was Saturday, the door to the Service Dept. was open so I drove in and told my tale of woe to Service Advisor Rob McNulty.

Rob sprang into action and had my assembly out, spring replaced and assembly back in in about ten minutes. (He had never worked on an ML before).

Then he wouldn't charge me anything.

That is Rob McNulty of Western Slope Auto Co. in Grand Junction, CO.

Many thanks, Rob. You made my day.
