bond-o's correct, only if you don't step threw the floor and break your neck first. or break your ankle. if you care anything about your kids, leave them at home.
I was doing some on water testing while restoring a 14 ft. runabout flat bottom. I ran it without anything--no floor or stringers. The bottom flexed up and bulged about 3-4 inches at a max pressure point between 1 and 3 feet from the transom. And I was only going 5-7 mph. not even on plane. I didn't DARE go faster. I thought it would rip open the bottom.
there are 3 in my 79 crestliner crusader 550 all of which are glassed in the two outer ones have foam inside there are only a few spots maybe the size of a quarter where the glass is gone and the foam is wet. The floor rests only on these two. the center one is just a piece of plywood on its side and there is a 6 inch spot where the glass is gone I cant tell if the wood is rotten there or just dark from getting wet how do I tell if I need to replace these? also the two outter ones are part of the hull so if the foam is waterlogged is it better to fix or leave alone? thanks josh
you can drill small holes in the dark wood to see what you've got. it won't be hard to tell if you've got wood or mush once you see what the drill bit pulls out.
i'm not sure what you mean about the outter stringers but any waterlogged foam must come out or your fixes won't last very long.
