What hooks to the bottom of a water operated choke?

On my 65 lark 7 there is a fitting to attach a hose at the bottom of the hot water choke. I have never had anything attached to it for two years but since I am putting on new wiring and cleaning it I thought I would connect it. The Clymer manual I have does not say what hooks to it. I would guess that since it is a diaphragm that it hooks to vacuum?, but can not find any place to attach a hose to from the carb. Can anyone help solve this.

Are you sure you have a '65? That should have a hot air choke. If it is a hot water choke, from what I can figure, look at the intake manifold, below the left hand nut which holds the carburetor on. Should be a hose nipple there. The electric starter might be in the way...it's been a long time ago.

As far as I know it is. It has two upper lines that run to and from the head. The manual, which has proved to be little help, shows mine as the hot water model. Will I have to remove the starter to see the nipple, I can not see it currently with it installed.

I found the nipple but it has a hose running to the vacuum operated cutout switch. Should there be a T connector to connect both to this one nipple?:/

My generic service manual shows a second, larger nipple directly above the smaller one. However, my 1963 parts book illustratiion shows only the small one, with a blanked boss where the big one would go---but they seem to be using the same picture for both the 28 and 40 hp motors for convenience sake. The 28 wouldn't have the automatic choke.

I suppose you could drill and tap the manifold for the second fitting if you really want to. But those chokes never did work worth crap, so why bother? Just work it manually like you have been.
