I think you pour it into all of the cooling hoses up front and watch it come out the plugs....

but to make sure just how many hoses am I pouring antifreeze in? that way I know I'm not pour antifreeze into something I shouldn't

it's a 84 mercruiser 260 chevy 350.

and i should remove 1 bolt per side of block 2 total...and one bolt per manifold 2 total...

so there is 4 plugs/pitcocks to remove correct?

what hoses do you pour the antifreeze in when winterizing a mercruiser 260?

Ayuh,.... I Don't...

I remove the 2 block drainplugs, the 2 manifold drainplugs, pull the Big hose off the circulating waterpump, pull 1 of the Big hoses off the P/S Cooler,+ store it with either the outdrive Down, or removed....

Your 260 will be hiding Water in the same places My little 4.3LX does, as explained...

ok went ahead and did it..not knowing...

anyway despite taking the thermostate housing off (didn't do this didn't want to..)

it said to take "hoses" c off so I took those TWO hoses off poured some until it ran out red out of my exhaust manifolds...de rocked them a little while this went on.

then it said take "hose" h off notice it said hose NOT hoseS so I took the hose H off it said poured some and it came out of the foot at the ear muff area and that little weep hole area....

*my question is should I have taking the other side of hose H off too? it said hose as single and pointed to a hose on the right as you're facing the engine the other side which it didn't say to take loose looked like it just ran from up top down to the water pump...probably didn't need it there so they didn't say to disconnect and pour antifreeze there.

clear as mud? anyone with a mercruiser 260hp 350 and a manual should be able to shed some light on this for me or someone like DON who is a wiz with boats..

thanks for any tips!

same engine as yours, took the hoses off that go to the thermostat housing, and all got antifreeze untill it came out clear at the bottom. I only used about half a jug though, dont think it was enough.

here ya go. ya should be able to find what yer looking for here.... http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=251571
after ya figure out which books for you. go to the section regarding winter layup. probably give ya step by step instructions..... just a guess, but i bet one thing ya do is get all the water out of the system 1st prior to adding antifreeze, might even say storing w/ air is an acceptable way to store it. air or antifreeze. yer choice.... just a guess though...

I pulled both plugs on the side, and the plugs on the bottom of the manifolds. I then waited for the water to all come out. Reinstalled the plugs. Then took the hoses off the thermno housing and filled up each manifold hose so that the antifreeze came up and filled both manifolds and eventually came out of the exhaust tube. Then removed the seawater hose and back poured it so that antifreeze filled up that hose and the PS cooler. When I saw enough antifreeze come out of the outdrive I moved to the big water pump hose. I filled that up until I saw antifreeze come up into the intake manifold through a plug on the intake I removed. Took about 3 gallons total.
