what hp and age model/serial is my engine

Have just bought johnson/evinrude 3cyl but cant find any clues to hp age.Serial no plate is missing .can anyone help it has a distributor under the flywheel stator has three ht leads out and a single coil lead in it is fitted with a Sierra power pac part no N185747 . any ideas?

look for a silver welch plug (freeze plug) on the block, should have #s on it. what are they?

sorry cant find welch plug with numbers on but there is a number on the top carb is 318505D2

these parts are used on many motors, no way to track down. post pictures of your motor, with and without the cover.

It is a 1968 or '69 55 horsepower, or a 1970 or '71 60 horsepower. A picture of the electrical panel will tell.

EDIT: A 60hp has a long black plastic terminal strip with a whole bunch of screws for wire connections.

A 55hp has a black rubber diaphragm about the size of a silver dollar on the starboard side, aft of the center carburetor. ( Anybody seen a silver dollar lately?)

here is pic of elec pack hope this is what you mean .How do i test power pack and coil etc is there a web site i could use ?
