What Hydra fluid for Baystar ?

Hi all. I need to replace all the fluid in my Baystar hydraulic steering unit due to a leak. Are there other fluid(s) I could buy that are cheaper than the Teleflex oil ? Something from the auto parts store ?

FWIW, Teleflex says it's MIL Spec H 5606c rating...... Any options ?

You can use Mil 5606-H Aviation Hydraulic fluid . Runs around $7 a quart. Only negative is it's dyed red and could be confused with ATF by later boat owners. I order mine from Aircraft Spruce. Approved by SeaStar (BayStar).
