I guess that is what happens when one of those big birds that Bill Engel talks about hits a plane. .<br />That is when I ask for some ambian sleeping pills, and hope they kick in before you hit the ground..

Had an experience like that between Barber's Point and Midway in 1957, except it was a big fan that was not turning but emitting smoke and flames!! . We were really lucky to be only about 100 miles out of Midway because the plane was not ditchable due to the nature of our cargo.<br /><br />What did I do? I was so busy logging radio traffic that by the time I got caught up we were on the ground at Midway and exiting the for'd hatch (no ladder) post haste. 18' to the runway and I don't think my feet touched the ground for about 100 yards.<br /><br />Engine was junk. We waited on Midway for 9 days until a new engine was delivered and installed. Got into the longest running open poker game in the world and. . . .but that is another story.
