What impeller do you use?

I'm gearing up to change my impeller, and I've ran across some forums discussing the process.

Several have mentioned that a GLOBE impeller can run dry for 15 minutes without any damage.

Not that I would dare run it for even a minute without water... is this the only advantage of having an impeller like this?

I'm not a hot-rodder or anything, and I'll probably stick with OEM stuff... I'm just curious what the advantage is (if any)

Thanks,

H.

If your running Merc, then stick to OEM. If it dies due to a fault of the impeller, they'll replace, not only the impeller, but everything it took with it. If that means it fried your engine, they'll replace it. How many aftermarket units can match that?

No, I am not a Merc salesman, I use to sell Mariners and Mercruisers and that's why I know about their policies.

Chris..........

Thanks for the info...

I'm going to get OEM.

I've been looking at several sites to find the best price. They all seem to be close to each other.

Too bad there isn't a web site like PriceWatch that can find boat parts for the cheapest price all at once.

H.

Gee, seems to me you just might've had a million dollar idea there, Homerr. Course you'd have to compare snowmobile and motorcycle parts too, but I say go for it!

Just went to their website. Looks interesting. More like a Cobra impeller that can hold-up fairly well compared to a Lord impeller. But I hear they're not so good in cold water. I gotta balieve there's good reason MerCruiser hasn't gone there. Still I'd like to see one up close.
