I want only OEM anodes, checking online they all seem to be aftermarket anodes....
Thanks, Rick

For any Original Equipment Manufacturer (oem) part, you are going to have to go to an authorized dealer. FYI, those annodes only need be replaced when they are about 1/2 erroded away. (They are supposed to get all crusty like that) Otherwise just wire brush the hell out of them, and NEVER paint them.

just came back from the Mercruiser dealer, they insisted that the aftermarket was the SAME, I insisted that I only wanted OEM, so I will go back and pick them up this afternoon......
Same price as aftermarket too.....

Howdy,

You're going to operate in salt I presume and I'm guessing that boat has a Bravo on the back?

If you're going to park it in a marina, you might have the Mercathode checked for proper operation and ask the dealer if the "Zinc" anodes are in fact aluminum.

There's a Mercury SB on this but the number escapes me...... Some places have older "Zinc" anodes that are in fact, ZINC and NOT aluminum.

[found it!]
SMC-03-0210-Mar-03 AFTERMARKET REPLACEMENT ALUMINUM ANODES MERCRUISER

Ask the dealer for a copy of the above...... unless someone here has it...... Mercury doesn't appear to like to let anything out on the internet now it seems!

Regards,

Rick

Thanks, Don. I was going to order after-market zinc anodes over the internet within the next few weeks so I can start to get ready for spring. I'll now stick to OEM anodes. I was also surprised to read that Mercruiser recommends using the aluminum anodes for salt water application. Two marine mechanics told me that's wrong, that I should only use zinc, that aluminum anodes would wear away my drive. Now you know why I do my own maintenance and repairs. Hy
