Saw a boat on ebay had a johnson 150 4 stroke wrote the guy a question of compression he stated all were with in 5% of 90psi is this good for a 4 stroke? I know 2 strokes should be at 125 or above.
just trying to further educate myself.

I'm no expert but I don't think there was a 4 stroke johnson in 92....do you mean 2002?

You had best ask the seller for the Model and Serial Numbers. Without that information you have no idea what you are buying. There simply is no 1992 Johnson 4-stroke. 4-cylinder yes.

Compression of 100 or better is good. 125 usually is a max. Good Luck!

Compression numbers vary a lot because of differences in guages and technique.

If 4 (or 6) cylinders measure within 5% of 90psi I would call that good. It is almost impossible for four or six cylinders of a 2 stroke to fail in the same amount at the same time.

There was no Johnny 4 stroke of any size in 1992.

The 1992 Johnny 150 was 6 cylinders, not 4.

Given the number of impossible claims I would drop any interest.

Either the seller hasn't a clue what he has or he is a bad scammer (or both).

I thought 92 was early for a 4 stroke on a johnson I just went off of the picture online that had 4stroke in lettering on the engine.
