Most "modern" (i.e., since 1970) boats (except for some inboards) use aluminum, plastic or fiberglass. If you have an aluminum boat, 99% of the time the tank will be made out of the same materials.<br />Plastic composites have gained popularity even in aluminum boats, since there's no concern about welds, corrosion or electrolosis. If I were building a new boat today, that's what I would specify.
