I was looking at some old movies from my wife's side and I ran across this. Looks like an early jet ski. I'm guessing that the movie is from the very late 60's or very early 70's
That is not an early jet-ski. Early ones had an actual ski in the front steered by handlebars. I have seen that particular type hull before but forget what it was called. BTW: Notice the CHRYSLER on the back? Difficult to tell because the photo is so blurry but the engine appears to be late 60s.
Early jet skis never had a ski on front...you are thinking of a Wet Bike. I had the first year of jet ski. I've seen that boat/ski thing back in the day, although I have no idea who made it. Seems like early to mid 70's.
Sorry about it being so blurry. It looks kinda cool with the motorcycle handle bars. Looks like it would be a blast to drive. Anyone know of any survivors out there.
There was an early wave runner in the movie "The Spy who Loved me". James Bond rides it from the submarine to Stromberg's headquarters. That was a 1977 release, so the device would have been a bit older.
