What is my fuel consumption?

I bought a '94 60HP Johnson last year that had all kinds of problems but is now fixed and ready for the water. It's on the back of a 16' Starcraft SS. Just wondering what kind of fuel consumption I can expect. I understand there are many variables but for this exercise let's assume 3 adults are in the boat. I have a 6 gallon tank in there now but depending on consumption might look at getting a bigger one.

Also wanted to ask...what octane fuel should I be running? Whatever I use will be non-ethanol but I can get it anywhere from 87-91 octane.

Let's say you need 6-1/2 gallons for the trip. That means you paddle for the last part. A second tank takes the angst out of it.

Agreed - as 2-strokes go, those 3-cylinder Johnrudes were pretty good on gas. At wide open, you'll burn through the tank in a little over an hour. Knock the throttle back a bit and you'll probably get a couple hours out of a tank. Best to have two anyway - then you can set a timer and know for sure!
