I checked the FAQ, and search the web... nothing on this. I am looking to understand what are the lettering of the Mercury motor. I know EFI means Electronic Fuel Injection. What is HP, EH, and some others. Along with that, how to know if it's electric start (and does it add weight). What is tilt as well trim/tilt, same thing?
Also, it seems to look up owners manual (online), it must be paid for first before downloadable.

I am aware of the http://boatspecs.iboats.com/Engines/bpe/10 (yet, many state it's "saltwater model", but it's made for fresh water?).

HP: HorsePower
EH: Engine Hours
PHD: Powerhead

My DSLR camera has a PHD button, which is the Acronym for 'Push Here Dummy'

The components for the Electric Start do have Mass, so yes it will weight more. Older merc Serial #s couldn't tell if Electric Start or not. A bunch of wires sticking out of the Cowl Pan would be a clue. Newer ones with Model #s usually have an "E", "PT" for Power Trim, "L" for Long Shaft, and "XL" for Extra Long SHaft PHD: PowerheadSome engines a Tilt system only might be offered. It only allows idle and off idle operation when the engine is not against the tilt pin. Power Trim allows the engine to operate any speed and not against the tilt pin(if it even has one).

Oh man… I used to be in camera world for a short time, but I quit after my cameras all been stolen (I know who, that person is within the family, can you believe it!?).

I wasn't thinking... HP mean Horse Power, yeah. What I was asking is I see other letterings and like to know what those are. I went to the dealer and this person was speaking all those letters, along with price, flew over my head. Isn't M or MS for Manual Start?

I still don't get it with "trim" and "tilt". So, since apparently, I need to spell it out? What is:

TRIM

TILT

TRIM/TILT

TILT/TRIM

Power TRIM

Power TILT

Power TILT/TRIM

anything else?

I see those word back and forth, backwards, or whatever. Are tilt and trim the same thing? To me, trim is something put (or painted) on the sides, huh?

So, I am asking if there's a website that explains all those letterings (not only just show it with price). I am not asking for few letterings, I like to know all, so no surprise. I am Deaf, so I don't hear the world of words like you guys.

Trim and tilt.

In the very Early 60s OMC offered a Power Tilt system, allowing the engine to be raised for trailer/beaching. It also allowed the engine to be run in a tilted position at low speeds(Idle and slightly above), at higher throttle positions the Hydraulics were overpowered and the engine would drop down to the TIlt Pin.
In 1966 Mercury introduced Power Trim, another Hydraulic system that in this design would allow raising lower the motor at all speeds.
In 1973 OMC introduced a Power Trim system, which they called Trim and Tilt, on their larger engines. They also still offered a Tilt only system on these engines.

So...

TILT means moving the motor up and down, manually.
Usually 3 stages (angles): (1) all the way up - locked (2) middle - unlocked (3) all the way down - tilt pin - locked
Can't use reverse in (1) and (2) - common sense
reason for (2) is trailer or to pull motor out of water while over rocks/earth

TRIM means powered tilt.
Smaller motors tend to include tiller handle
Larger motors tend exclude tiller handle

Is this all correct?

Fun Times, that was perfect reply. Is this pretty much exhaustive?
