I am replacing the fuel delivery line on my 88 force 85hp motor. It is the first time doing this and have some questions. I am seeing lots of different connectors, hose types and primer bulbs. What is the correct way to set this up for ease of maintenance and safety.

One thing I did was relocate my primer bulb to the splashwell. It was originally under the splashwell by the fuel tank. Another thing to look for is where your fuel line hooks up to the tank. Dont know what size your boat is but if you have a 12 gallon tank that's equipped with a straight fuel connector pointing back at the transom i'd replace that with a 90 degree fuel connector to prevent kinks in the hose. The rest is up to you. I believe the stock fuel line size for that engine is 1/4" but you can upgrade to 5/16 if you'd like.

Re: what is the correct fuel delivery setup

I replaced my fuel lines recently. I spoke to the mechanic at the local boat yard and he sold me two types of hoses.

One hose looks like the standard black rubber hose but is thicker than normal and is designed for use in under floor tanks. It wont let any petrol fumes leach through it and collect in the bilge.

The other hose was E10 resistant. I don’t run E10 fuel but I figure it could help if I get E10 fuel in the system by mistake.

As far as fittings go the least you have the better. As long as the ones you have all match you should be OK. Make sure the seals in the connectors are in good condition so you don’t get air leaking into the fuel lines.

I run two fuel filters in the system. One water separating filter between the tank and the motor. Then an inline fuel filter between the fuel pump and the carbys.

I have a quick connector in the line before the water separator so I can switch from the main tank to a portable tank if needed

The less the better. These motors came with an inline connector.Remove it.
From the tank into a water seperating fuel filter.
To the squeezie, then a solid hose to the fuel pump.Between the pump and the carb a small filter.
From Wally World a g2 or g12 depending on hose size.
