Re: what is the deal with craigslist?
Craigslist does something called "ghosting." Since they don't seem to actively run their own website most of the time and instead, rely on computers to do everything for them, you can become the victim of other users.
What I mean by that, is that if you have ever had one or more of your ads marked as "spam" by another user, you can become the victim of a computer that thinks you are violating the rules of the site. In such a case, you may find your ads being ghosted. You can complain to CL by emailing them from your account, but it can take time to get an actual human being to do something about it. Mostly what you will get, is a bunch of emails asking you to seek answers from a link with a bunch of dopey possibities for your problem, none of which will be the case.
If you have been ghosted, you will still get the email that says your ad has been posted and it will show as active, within your account listing at CL. Try as you might, however, you won't find it in the actual listing section.
I recently had this problem, while attempting to sell a 6 wheel ATV that I owned. I sent a number of emails to CL and only got it fixed, when I got mad and told them that I was going to advertise it elsewhere. I never got an answer, but a day later when I tried again, the ghosting had gone away.
