I tried to view a ""utube" link, and I got "you have java script turned off bla bla"....

WTH is Java script? Where can it be found in this machine? And how does an idiot control it's on and off switches?

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x

1. On the menu bar click on "Tools" then "Internet Options."
2. From Internet Options, select the "Security" tab.
3. Click Custom Level.
4. Scroll down to "Scripting," make sure "Active Scripting" is set to Enable.
5. Click "OK."
6. Click "Yes" or "OK" when asked, "Are sure you wish to change the security settings for this zone."
7. Click "OK" on the Internet Properties window.
8. Close all open Internet Explorer windows and then relaunch Internet Explorer.

Mozilla Firefox
Tools -> Options -> Check "Enable Javascript"

Well I wasn't trying to make any points about that but I do think the Mozilla options interface is simpler than IE though. I don't often find myself fiddling with either one.

Same is true for IE I think which makes me curious how 12footer ended up with that problem.

Thanks, i386. I think what "turned it off" was my front door software. I keep playing with new security programs, so they sometimes get in a digital "argument" about who is controling what.
As fer "mozilla", i am clueless... Sounds like a bad japanese AVI.
Thanks again

Instead of having just Javascript enabled in Firefox, have a look at a Firefox Add-on. In Firefox settings , turn on Java and Java scripting. Installl the No-Script add-on. No-Script allows you to turn on Java Scripting execution for only the websites that you want. It's basically a filter to block all websites except the one's you OK. Works very well.
