What is this motor?

I recently acquired an old Sears outboard Model # is 571.58041 Ser#401-20.969( I think, this is a number off of the block). It is one cylinder water cooled. what is the correct fuel mix and spark plug gap for this? Thanks for any info you can provide.

Are you sure that isn't 571.58401? a 46 2.5 hp.

Spark plug is J12J gapped at .050" Yes, that's a mighty wide gap. If the magneto is too weak to fire it, you may have to close the gap down some.

I have one of those motors, runs great. My plug is gapped at .030". Water pump is a real treat if you have to get into it. If it pumps good at slow idle, leave it alone.

The water pump seams to pump water fine. I have gotten it started but I don't have the bugs worked out of it yet, I completely tore apart the carb for cleaning and don't have the mixtures quite right yet but it has been a blast to work on because of the simplicity of everything on the motor. I can't say as I will ever really use it but it is pretty cool to have something this old that still works.
