Tallman, have no idea what those are for, but do have a question, are you running a 4 bladed prop, could'nt tell from the pics but i thought it might be, if so, how do you like it?

flashback : yeah I am running a 4 blade prop a michigan wheel vortex I believe 14 X 20P. Its not too bad but what do I know, I am new to the boating thing. I had a 3 blade 23p stainless on it till my girlfriend clipped the rocks with it the day after having the sterndrive replaced. Luckily drive didnt sustain damage. I lost some top end by switching but I do a lot of pulling of tubes and such...<br /><br />SLOPPY!! SO........ What are they??? dont keep me hanging....<br /><br />Mumblerone: Taking them off wont do anything... Except get more water in my transom unless I plug the holes... LOL

Think the owner before you installed them so people would think he has thru hull exhaust? Sort of like those old "fake" cell phone antenna's????<br /><br />Ok, Sloopy make this idiot feel like one. Whats the bunks got to do with it? Been around boats along time. (Wish we had a better pic, including a inside shot) Never seen paint can tops installed.

Sloppy: Hate to tell ya, but the trailer has nothing to do with those, I bought the trailer after I bought the boat. The original trailer had rollers and was falling apart so I replaced it.<br /><br />Trent: inside the boat there is nothing to see, just the engine in there with the bilge which has no connection to those grey things on the outside.<br /><br />Like I said before they are screwed on with 3 screws each into the Transom no part of it goes thru the transom or anything like that, the boat already has Thru-Hull exhaust so it aint to simulate that, besides you cant seem them when its in the water anyways.. And nothing has ever beem atached to them in anyway at least as far as I can tell the paint is not worn off of them....

Ok.. From the pic I see. I dont see thru hull exhaust (thru the transom). I know were are on the internet so its hard to see. I was referring to a picture of...From the outside of the transom

Trent: Thats ok, I appreciate your input and jabs.. HA HA..... Who knows what that crazy stuff is.. Supposedly the previous owner was a speed freak or so they tell me so, who knows what those things were supposed to do, maybe the guy thought it would take off like a rocketship or something... HA HA... Just trying to figure it out I know of another boat same as mine except it does not have those goofy things, although I think it looks better with them on... <br /><br />This is almost getting as good as the whats wrong with bayliner posts, or the auto vs marine.. West Marine sells a small version of what you have. They are threaded, however, and are for holding your drain plug between launches. I think yours are for decoration only.

They are obviously a device for holding solid block bleach tablets that you would normally hang in a toilet. The bleach leaches out and kills the weed / fouling on the leg automatically.

How about a place to mount portable trailer lights or to do with the rear tie down trailer straps? Either that or something to do with a leg support bracket system when trailering. They could be for show. Otherwise I'm stumped. I'd get them chrome plated and then wait for people to ask you where they can get a set.

Nothing to do with the tiesdowns or lights..... I think about the best I have heard is the ashtrays.. HA HA..<br />Maybe get them chromed too and sell'em to make a few bucks.... I thought Sloopy knew but havent heard from him... Ooh well..<br /><br />Tallman

i just saw something at west marine that looked exactly like what you describe- it was a product sold by r-a-m, which sells all sorts of mounting harware. they looked just like spraypaint tops, with the three holes for screws. the tops, however were threaded, and allowed a variety of different components to be attached (balls, pipes, etc). not sure if that's it, but they matched almost exact from your pictures and descriptions.<br /><br />sloopy, if you know, pls share...
